Welcome to Eye Matter !

Since summer 2005 we are delighted to announce the dynamic changes that the RNIB NI Young Person's Forum has undertaken.  Eye Matter is a forum of extremely pro-active young people, age 15 to 30, with sight problems from all over Northern Ireland.

Eye Matter meets to discuss issues affecting their lives and lobby and campaign on these issues.  Members also learn new skills, socialise and have fun.

Eye Matter is now comprised of two groups, Eye Matter East, which will combine the Belfast and Newry groups, and Eye Matter West, which will be the current Derry Group with the potential for new members from Omagh and Enniskillen areas.  Eye Matter now represents young people, age 15 to 30, with sight problems from all over Northern Ireland.

Aims

The unified voice of young people with sight problems is never heard, but Eye Matter equips them with the skills to bring their concerns forward. Eye Matter members speak directly to political figures and policy makers in an attempt to have barriers and discrimination removed and in the pursuit of social inclusion for people with sight problems.  RNIB NI facilitates Eye Matter by providing training and support but each group has its own chairperson and secretary and members control the strategy for Eye Matter.
